I've always loved sharing my passion for spoken word with anyone curious about this growing literary movement. So a month ago I was stoked when I got an email from CJRU 1280, a new radio station out of Ryerson University. In fact, Ryerson is my alma mater (I graduated from its journalism school in 2002) and I got a soft spot for RyeHigh.
CJRU host Ramraajh wanted to chat about the rise of Toronto Poetry Slam, and what motivated me to get into spoken word in the first place. Rather than rehash it all in text, below is the Soundcloud file of our conversation.
And a bonus for those who don't hear/see me perform my own poetry: I perform a new piece called Be, a lil call-to-action I've been performing in schools for several months.
