With the school year approaching, I thought it'd be a good time to alert any teachers out there to my other major passion, besides journalism: going into school to teach spoken word.
For more than 12 years, I've been visiting schools across Ontario to perform and teach spoken word...and it's truly one of the most fulfilling opportunities I greatly appreciate.
I often teach at the junior and high school level, aiming to reach students grade 5 and above. I've lead workshops, mini poetry slams, performance showcases, etc. I can just perform and facilitate a performance space for students; or I can just lead workshops on writing, performing, finding confidence in your voice, and much more.
If you're a teacher, or know someone who may be interested in bringing spoken word to their classrooms in 2016/17, please get in touch at davidsilverbergATgmailDOTcom
